Exercise 8.3 A current source

The figure below shows a current source circuit using a MOS transistor. For transistor M1 iD = 1 2k (vGS V T )2 (1 + λ vDS) with k = 1mA V 2 , V T = 1V and λ = 0.01V 1.

a)
Derive an expression for the value of RS needed to generate a current ID. As simplification you may ignore the term with λ.
b)
Calculate the numerical value of RS.
For this you can use RG1 = RG2 and V GG = V DD = 6V .
c)
Draw a small-signal equivalent circuit for the current source and determine the value of the small-signal parameters gm and rds for the transistor.
d)
Derive an expression for the small-signal output resistance rout = vx id of the current source.
