Exercise 8.11 An opamp circuit schematic

a)
Derive the bias currents for all transistors in this circuit schematic, for vA = vB.
An answer:
Using symmetry, the bias currents in the NMOS transistors is IBIAS2. The bias currents in the PMOS transistors is then also IBIAS2; for PMOS transistors this may include a minus sign depending of how strict you follow current direction conventions.
b)

An answer:

ix vA vB = 1 2gm gm iD vGS = k (V GS V T) = k IBIAS ix vA vB = 1 2k IBIAS
c)

An answer:
Using symmetry (remember that the PMOS transistors are identical) it readily follows that

iDM 4 = iDM3 = IBIAS 2 + ix

d)

An answer:

vR = IRR = (IBIAS 2 + ix) R = IBIAS 2 R + ixR

e)

An answer:

av = vout vA vB = ix vA vB vout ix = 1 2k IBIAS R
